Dr. Andrew J Braunstein joined Lake Norman Neurology in 2001 after completing his training at Wake Forest University.  Originally from South Florida, Dr. Braunstein attended Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where he received a bachelors degree in Psychology while also completing his premed requisites and obtaining a minor in Chemistry.  During his last two years of college and first year of medical school, he engaged in research at the University of Florida, department of Medicinal Chemistry where he study and published papers on the treatment of AIDS encephalopathy.  Formal medical training was done at Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Neurology internship and residency were completed at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.  After completion, an additional year of fellowship training was done at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Epilepsy and Sleep Medicine.  Dr. Braunstein is board certified in General Neurology and Sleep Medicine. 

Although all areas of neurological disorders are treated, interest include epilepsy, epilepsy surgery, migraine headaches, sleep disorders (narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea and periodic limb movement disorder of sleep), dementia and Parkinson’s disease.  Dr. Braunstein’s hobbies include spending time with his family, boating, running and playing guitar.
